Your Stationery Guide | When to send Wedding Invitations and Save-the-Dates | Wedding Stationery Details

Today we are answering the two questions we at Lela New York get the most. When do I send Save-the-Dates and when do I send out my wedding invitations? Well today you are going to get your answers on what to send and importantly when to send it.

When you first get engaged you want to share it to the world! The first thing you should do is book your wedding venue and pick your wedding date. this will help you wi not only your wedding stationery but will help other wedding vendor choices as well. Ok so you know when and where now shout it out. Now let's talk Save-the-Dates!

Save-the-Dates should be sent out as early as one year before your big day and up to 6 months before your wedding. Of course if you are having a destination wedding I would choose to have them sent 1 year in advance.

What should save-the-dates include? Simple, your names, date, location and wedding website, if you have one. Destination weddings may also want to include other info such as accommodation info and travel information.

Wedding invitations are the introduction to your big day and a glimps of what's to come! Wedding invitations should be sent out 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding. Any sooner then you risk your invitations being lost in the shuffle of other tentative mailings and any later you maybe waiting for rsvp's and having to make phone calls to guests to see who will be attending. Even for destination weddings invitations should not be sent out sooner than 8 weeks. That is what save-the-dates are for ;)

What to include in your wedding invitations depends on your circumstance, location, venue and if you are having out of town guests. Here are some cards to consider adding to your invitation suite. The invite, RSVP card, RSVP envelope, reception card, directions card, accommodations card, map, brunch invitation, other invites and of course your mailer. There are other modern components you can add and read about in our past post.

In terms of design it's always nice when your whole wedding stationery coordinates with each other. So hiring a wedding invitation/stationery designer to created your save-the-dates and wedding invitations always gives your guests a cohesive look into your wedding day style. Its also time to think about your wedding colors, look and style. Is it modern? Classic? This should be reflected in the design of your stationery starting with your save-the-dates, invitations and all wedding stationery. Your guests will sure be excited to see a glimps of what's to come!

I Love the classics. Black and white, beautiful luscious cotton papers and incredible luxurious silks make this wedding invitation in a class of it's own. The luxurious affair took place at a private country club in Massachusetts and the couple wanted a more classic and elegant look for their small intimate wedding. Lela New York created a lovely book style wedding invitation that was letterpressed in black ink and tied with a white bow. A Lovely introduction to their elegant wedding day.

The Royal Wedding Invitations | Kate and William's Luxury Wedding Invitations

I was so excited when Lela New York was asked by Brides.com to redesign the Royal Wedding Invitations of Prince William and Kate Middleton! Here is our version ;)

Mixing both classic and modern details I wanted to use our very popular silk gatefolds for the invite accessory and keeping the actual invitation card classic. We made a portrait style invitation and used a royal navy for the silk color that was custom embroidered in a deeper navy to give a rich texture. A gold version was also applied on the inside of the invitation which can be seen when the invite is opened. The center closure is a custom made emblem that has the Royal "ER" engraved in the center and adorned with crystal details.
The invitation itself is a cream extra thick cotton stock that has been beveled and printed in a traditional all script gold engraving.
The whole invitation would be sent in a custom diecut envelope that has a custom printed liner in a matching gold pattern.

Here is a closer look!

What do you guys think?

Lela LOVES NYC wedding invitations created with a Brooklyn Bride in mind

Lela New York created these luxury modern Brooklyn wedding invitations for a couple being married in the Brooklyn Botanical Garden's The Palm House. With a venue like that, you know the invitations had to be special enough to reflect the couples big day. Lela used botanical inspiration along with art nouveau design to create their hand drawn custom wedding invitation. They also wanted to add a bit of a twist and a bit of fun so we added a saying like, "see ya in Brooklyn" on the RSVP's and hand drew the Brooklyn Bridge to go with their location and fun theme. This New York wedding invitation was finished off with a custom made decorative envelope that was lined with a beautiful scarlet red paper stock to give it that extra pop. This design was all letterpressed for that rich and luxurious feeling.

Luxury Wedding Invitations in Purple Silk w/ Lace & crystal details by New York wedding invitation designer Lela New York

This is one of my favorite luxury wedding invitations that we, at Lela New York have created! I know, I say that a lot, but this wedding invitation really is beautiful!

This invitation was created for a destination wedding in Capri, Italy and was inspired by the brides wedding lace wedding gown and purple and lavender details. The silk invitation is a gatefold style and opens in the middle revealing the ultra thick letterpress and foil stamped invitation. The two pockets on each side of the gatefold/book style invite holds the bride's rsvp and reception cards. The inside of this luxury invite is also layered with a pretty lace that gives it such a elegant look and reflects the bride's style and wedding. The custom invitation design and graphics were inspired by their exquisite location and was hand drawn and later letterpressed. And the invitation was finished of with a silver satin ribbon and custom crystal closure.
I just love it!

Vintage Inspiration Board by New York Luxury wedding invitation designer Lela New York

Hi Everyone!
Just wanted to kick the weekend off with some pretty vintage purple inspiration with Lela New York's Luxury wedding invitations. The luxury letterpress invitations are super thick and made of a luxurious 4 ply/extra thick 100% cotton paper stock. The wedding invitations were printed with 3 colors and wrapped with a letterpress belly band in plum. Love purple with pewter grays and ivories.

The wedding dress is by Monique Lhuillier and is just so romantic with that pretty vintage vibe that everyone is loving right now. And I just love the bridesmaid dress color from After Six.

Enjoy!
