Searching for the perfect wedding dress accessory - Jeweled necklaces and crystal belts, oh my!

Ok, so before buying a totally jeweled up wedding dress think about your accessories. Sometimes the accessories make the dress work! That is what happened to me. If you choose a wedding dress with tons of beautiful crystals and beaded work than you may not want to do any accessories or just a small pair of earrings. BUT, if you are looking at this years beautiful ruffled dresses with beautiful gathering and fabrics you may want to finish your look with a beautiful statement necklace and a beautiful crystal belt.

These jeweled and embellished necklaces are from Ranjana Khan and are just stunning! Some of them can be worn as a crystal belt accessory too!

Embellished crystal belts were all over the runway this bridal market and just add that special finishing touch to the perfect wedding dress. These are some of my favorites!

These Badgley Mischka Crystal Belts are fab!

This Romona Keveza Crystal Belt is so elegant!

Vera Wang in NYC with Brides Editor-in-Chief, Millie Martini Bratten

I was invited to hear Vera Wang speak this weekend at Vera's New York City Madison Avenue store hosted by Millie Martini Bratten, Editor-in-Chief of Brides Magazine, and I jumped at the chance! After all I was a Vera Bride!
Vera has also been my idol for so long and was everything I expected her to be and more. Brilliant, brilliant is what she was.

Vera talked about being inspired by the bride and how her wedding dresses are really not just about Vera's vision like her ready-to-wear line is but more about real women and their different body types and different styles. Vera explained how the "women" in the dress is just as important as the dress itself and needs to reflect the bride. After all, it's usually the first time a women gets to host a party plus it's one of the most important parties in her life and it should express her personal style and taste. This should be reflected in the dress selection.

Vera also advises her brides to think about at least "two things before picking out your dress, location, and the time of day." If you are getting married at a beach, you wouldn't want a ball gown but you may want a light airy dress instead. And the same goes with the time of day. A bride may want to choose a less blingy dress if she is getting married at noon rather than in the evening. Things that may seem obvious but are sometimes over looked.

But overall Vera made it clear, it is important to remain true to yourself and your unique sense of style.

This week will be full of Wedding dress lovelies from New York's Bridal market.
Tomorrow stay tuned for the Vera Wang Fall 2011 collection!

Lela LOVES NYC wedding invitations created with a Brooklyn Bride in mind

Lela New York created these luxury modern Brooklyn wedding invitations for a couple being married in the Brooklyn Botanical Garden's The Palm House. With a venue like that, you know the invitations had to be special enough to reflect the couples big day. Lela used botanical inspiration along with art nouveau design to create their hand drawn custom wedding invitation. They also wanted to add a bit of a twist and a bit of fun so we added a saying like, "see ya in Brooklyn" on the RSVP's and hand drew the Brooklyn Bridge to go with their location and fun theme. This New York wedding invitation was finished off with a custom made decorative envelope that was lined with a beautiful scarlet red paper stock to give it that extra pop. This design was all letterpressed for that rich and luxurious feeling.

Enjoy!

Lela LOVES NYC themed wedding invitations with a vintage theme

Lela loves creating NYC themed wedding invitations and these were extra fun to design because of the vintage theme behind them. Lela New York created custom artwork and included a fun postcard RSVP design and the vintage colors of dusty blues and greens went perfect!

Enjoy!
