A Real Wedding in NYC's Cipriani 42nd Street

Monica and Rick had a fabulous wedding with gray and fuchsia pinks being their accent colors mixed with classic whites and creams. I love all the classic florals in their decor and of course their Cipriani wedding venue made for a spectacular back drop to their big day celebration! Thanks to Funico Studios for the beautiful photography!

Your Stationery Guide | When to send Wedding Invitations and Save-the-Dates | Wedding Stationery Details

Today we are answering the two questions we at Lela New York get the most. When do I send Save-the-Dates and when do I send out my wedding invitations? Well today you are going to get your answers on what to send and importantly when to send it.

When you first get engaged you want to share it to the world! The first thing you should do is book your wedding venue and pick your wedding date. this will help you wi not only your wedding stationery but will help other wedding vendor choices as well. Ok so you know when and where now shout it out. Now let's talk Save-the-Dates!

Save-the-Dates should be sent out as early as one year before your big day and up to 6 months before your wedding. Of course if you are having a destination wedding I would choose to have them sent 1 year in advance.

What should save-the-dates include? Simple, your names, date, location and wedding website, if you have one. Destination weddings may also want to include other info such as accommodation info and travel information.

Wedding invitations are the introduction to your big day and a glimps of what's to come! Wedding invitations should be sent out 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding. Any sooner then you risk your invitations being lost in the shuffle of other tentative mailings and any later you maybe waiting for rsvp's and having to make phone calls to guests to see who will be attending. Even for destination weddings invitations should not be sent out sooner than 8 weeks. That is what save-the-dates are for ;)

What to include in your wedding invitations depends on your circumstance, location, venue and if you are having out of town guests. Here are some cards to consider adding to your invitation suite. The invite, RSVP card, RSVP envelope, reception card, directions card, accommodations card, map, brunch invitation, other invites and of course your mailer. There are other modern components you can add and read about in our past post.

In terms of design it's always nice when your whole wedding stationery coordinates with each other. So hiring a wedding invitation/stationery designer to created your save-the-dates and wedding invitations always gives your guests a cohesive look into your wedding day style. Its also time to think about your wedding colors, look and style. Is it modern? Classic? This should be reflected in the design of your stationery starting with your save-the-dates, invitations and all wedding stationery. Your guests will sure be excited to see a glimps of what's to come!

Katie and Taylor were such a pleasure to work with, and their bridal party were good sports too! Running all over Franklin Square in high heels on a chilly day could not have been as much fun for the ladies, as it was for us! A beautiful ceremony, fun formals, followed by an elegant, yet lively reception! You can’t ask for much more than that!

Wedding Dress Shopping Tips | A NYC Girlfriend Photo shoot

Are you ready for wedding dress shopping? Are you planning a fun trip with your girlfriends?
Well this shoot is for you! It's all about 4 girlfriends going shopping for the brides wedding dress & bridesmaids dresses - in the best city for shopping: NYC. They stop by the fabulous Gabriela`s bridal salon in Meatpacking District and D`arcy, the bride-to-be, starts trying different gowns. Her BFF`s Marilia, Krystina & Toni having the best time trying super sweet bridesmaid dresses and waiting for D`arcy to show off what she is trying on. Afterwards they head overt to Tribeca Rooftop where a bartender is already waiting with Champagne to start celebrating their friendship. While the sun sets behind the amazing skyline the ladies go on celebrating with drinks, food & LOTS of fun. NYC at it`s best!

If you are ready to go wedding dress shopping here are some of Lela's tips to make it fun and stress free:

Tip #1 : Who you bring to go wedding dress shopping is pretty important. Too many opinions is never a good thing. Try to limit the number of people you invite to people whom you value their opinions.

Tip #2: Before going to your dress fitting, it might be a good idea to get your make-up and hair trial the same day to better visualize what you will look like in your wedding dress.

Tip #3: Make sure to try on dresses with shoes. The height of the shoe makes a real difference in how you look.

Tip #4: Try on different dress styles and shapes. It will help you narrow down what you like and what you do not like. When trying on wedding dresses, you never know what style you'll end up loving.

Tip #5: Keep in mind where your event is taking place. If you are having a destination wedding, consider choosing a lightweight airy dress. If you are having a ballroom style wedding, consider using silks or lace to compliment the event.

Tip #6: While at your dress fitting, start thinking about the accessories you might want to wear for your wedding day. This might change or finish the look your trying to achieve. Sometimes, a beautiful crystal belt or crystal flower accent really adds a special touch of glamor that might be what's needed to complete your look.

Tip #7: At the end, when you think you found your wedding dress, make sure to try it on with a headpiece or a wedding veil. It will help you visualize your final look. And don't forget to pose with your bouquet!

Tip #8: Once you found that dress, stop looking! You will only confuse yourself and add doubt. You picked your dress and it's beautiful, move on to other important wedding decisions.

Tip #9: Don't forget accessories. The perfect accessories will only enhance the look of your wedding day. So remember to pick the perfect veil or head piece while at the salon. But remember you can still continue to look for other pieces such as crystal belts, and jewelry after you have made your selection.

Tip #10: Now this is important. Have fun! Enjoy this experience, it all happens so fast so be in the moment and don't forget to breathe :)

Martha Clara Vineyard Wedding by Maggie Harkov Photography | New York Vineyard Wedding

I'm in love with this wedding and this lovely couple's story! Here's there story as told by the amazing photographer, Maggie Harkov.

It’s not every day one has to worry about a major hurricane threatening the Northeast (thank goodness for that(!)), so when news came that Hurricane Irene would be threatening our coast, we all to tried not to focus on it too much and go ahead with business as usual. As the warnings increased, however, and mandatory evacuations started, we all began to worry…

Now I want you to imagine said hurricane is supposed to hit the New York area on your wedding day. Not a few days before or a few days after – not a little rain or snow, but a major storm that everyone claimed could really threaten the safety of everyone. Your guests have already flown in from all over the United States and abroad, your dress is steamed, the cake has been made, the food and flowers are getting prepped, your vendors are all charged and geared up and every last detail is done and ready to go. You’ve been planning this day for the past year or perhaps most of your life and you have to make the call that not only affects your lives, but the lives of all these other people because no matter how much you planned, Mother Nature had other ideas. Katie and Joe had to make that decision the night before their wedding day and at somewhere between 12-1 AM on their big day, I got the call from a tear-filled Katie that they were going to postpone their special day. Can you imagine? Well, Katie and Joe? Yeah, they are kind of amazing. They canceled their wedding and they cried. And then, somehow, they managed to find the sunshine through the rain and laugh. They realized that no matter how hard it may have been, there are certain things we simply have no control over and that no matter what, at the end of the day, they would spend the rest of their lives together finding a way to laugh over the ups, downs and unexpected that life can bring. And that’s exactly what they did.

So, a month and a half, and some intensive replanning later, Katie and Joe said I do before their family and friends at the beautiful Martha Clara Vineyards. The sun shone brightly and perfectly – almost as if it were a gesture of apology from Mother Nature herself for all she had put them through. But it had been worth it the wait. The joy, love, and depth I witnessed between Katie, Joe and their families was something I’ll never forget and I’ll always find inspiration in Katie and Joe’s ability to find laughter and see the sun through the rain. I know they’ll always find it shine brightly in each other.
