Michael + Vivian's NYC Wedding Proposal | Downtown Cinderella-Inspired Marriage Proposal

Hello Lovelies!

Check out this adorable proposal planned by Sarah Pease of Brilliant Event Planning!

Vivian, who is from Australia, was on vacation in NYC with her close friend when she received the surprise of a lifetime.  Michael, Vivian’s knight in shining armor, traveled from Australia to surprise his princess while she was on vacation and swept her off her feet with this Downtown Cinderella-inspired marriage proposal.  While at their Manhattan hotel Vivian and her friend were asked to take part in what Vivian thought was a creative and edgy fairytale-themed photo shoot, but what she didn’t know is that Michael and her friend had secretly arranged the entire thing.  The girls played dress up and took gorgeous photos while they waited for the knight to arrive at the photo shoot.  When Michael, disguised in his suit of armor, arrived and took off his helmet, Vivian’s reaction was one of utter shock and pure happiness.  It was truly a fairytale proposal.  Congratulations Michael and Vivian!

Thomas + Heather's Surprise Engagement in Venice

Hello Lovelies!

Thomas is a firefighter from California, and wanted to surprise Heather, his love, with a marriage proposal in Venice. Luca Faz Photographer in Venice was able to capture theses beautiful moments and shares the couple's story below.

I assisted in suggesting a quite and romantic place (San Giorgio island, conveniently located in front of their hotel near San Marco Square).
Thomas told her that it was a good idea to go there to have a view from the Church's tower (that indeed is a remarkable one), I was waiting in the planned place with a dozen of red roses and an assistant and hidden cameras ( more from the rain than from them as they would be quite focused on the engagement to notice anything).
They took the ferry, he reached the roses and gave them to her one by one together with sweet words.
Then he took the ring, kneed and made his marriage proposal.
I left them some privacy and they actually visited the tower of the church, then after a quick change we have a short photographic walk around the area of Castello.

How romantic!

Chelsey + Chris | A New York Central Park Proposal Captured

Hello Lovelies!

Today I am featuring Chelsey and Chris, and a lovely proposal captured by the talented Josh Wong Photography.

The couple are from Lafayette, Louisiana, first timers to the Big Apple. Chris contacted Josh a few weeks ahead to see if he could document his proposal to his girlfriend. It was perfect! The proposal took place at Bow Bridge in Central Park and I just love how Josh captured the big "YES!" And how about her red coat?! It looks beautiful in the picts; the perfect color ;)

Thursday Trends | Caught On Film | Wedding Video Proposals

There are so many different elements to consider when planning a wedding proposal. Creativity, uniqueness, romance, personality, should it be done in front of friends and family, or is better to be intimate and alone? I wanted to share with all of you the fun and cute trend of video proposals. Catching the proposal on film, is a great way to capture the true emotion of such a special moment and allows you to share with others afterwards! Below are some top favorites...each one has a different style and approach to popping the question. What do you think? Which is your favorite?
Would you say yes to a unexpected choreographed dance routine, or would you prefer a more professional scenario like hiring proposal planner, Sarah Pease? She created the last video, Josh & Mandy's cooking class wedding proposal. Aren't these cute?

Super Sweet New York Wedding Proposal inspired by P.S. I Love You

Despite the snowstorm, a complete reschedule and the NYC Snowpocalypse Sarah, from Brilliant Event Planning, managed to pull off a P.S. I Love You -inspired proposal for Shaun & Marina.

It began with a special calligraphed love note delivered to their hotel room early in the day, continued with more love letters and surprise box seats at the NYC Ballet and ended at a private terrace room overlooking the city skyline with this private moment ...she said YES!

Lovely NY Wedding Photographer Karen Wise shares her engagement Story with us

Karen Wise, an amazing photographer here in New York City, recently got engaged this past summer in beautiful Hawaii! So of course I  wanted to know all about it! Below is her touching engagement story that Karen so kindly shares with us.

"While Chandler and I were in Hawaii for Nikki & Dave's wedding we stayed in a beautiful cottage, on a former ginger plantation, built by an architect and his wife.

We had the cutest Barbados Blackbelly Sheep as our neighbors. They lived in the pasture in front of our porch next to fields of pineapples, eucalyptus and lime trees. You could see the ocean in the distance and hear a nearby waterfall while eating breakfast.
We arrived at night after having spent 4 days on the West Coast near Kona. We had a lovely time on the West Coast at a B&B called the Luana Inn. We relaxed on Hapuna beach (northwest), and visited some black sand beaches (south) on our way to see the Kilauea volcano. We drove around the Big Island to the East Coast that night to get to the cottage we had rented, but didn't see the paradise we had arrived in until morning...
The first thing I did that morning were some sun salutations (yoga) in front of a row of Eucalyptus trees. We said hi to our neighbors (the owners) and to their baaing sheep (Buddy and Snickers). Chandler and I were invited to explore the farm, so we decided to take our cameras and head towards the sounds of rushing water. On our way out, Chandler said he needed to grab something from upstairs. I noticed what I thought was an iphone in his pocket...

Chandler went down the path to the waterfall first. I held his hand, and my Contax 645 in the other as I descended. At the bottom of the trail, I took a couple of shots, leaning forward over the cliff to try to see more water falling... Chandler held my belt loop as I took some more precarious steps. When I turned around he was on one knee with a little box in his hand.

Moments later we were engaged : )"
In these pictures:
Akaka Falls, our cottage in Pepeekeo, Luana Inn our wonderful B&B near Kona, kids playing at Hapuna Beach near Kona, our neighbors the sheep in Pepeekeo, Black Sands beach, Boiling Pots Falls in Hilo, the Kilauea crater within a crater spewing sulfur dioxide, and the Mauna Kea volcano at 13800 feet which we drove up to photograph.
Most of these images I shot on film with the Contax 645.
The color Holga pictures and pictures of Karen were taken by Chandler Kauffman

Congratulation Karen and Chandler, thanks for sharing! Much LOVE!

Do you want to share your lovely engagement story with us?
We would love to hear it. Please send your submissions to blog@lelanewyork.com to be considered for a feature on The Lela New York Wedding Blog. Thank You!
