Purple seems and excellent choice for a wedding color theme to me.
After all, it's a mixture between red and blue, the two opposite ends of the color spectrum, and if you round pink up to it's primary color big brother red, purple could be considered the marriage of the traditional color for girls (pink) and boys (blue)! Thusly, for me, purple represents a coming together....
